Mr. Knips had a close call with the supercomputer, but you managed to save him just in the nick of time! The grade level that swooped in with the win this week….Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten! You need a rest for your heroic efforts, so Tuesday, March 7th, Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten may wear pajamas to school!
Keep an eye on the HERO board to see what kind of trouble Mrs. Husske gets into next week.
Congratulations Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarteners! Awesome job being ‘Here Every day, Ready to learn, and On time!’

If you were at drop-off this morning, hopefully you caught a glimpse of our welcoming gorilla, Ivan. He was visiting Freedom Elementary this morning to introduce our new One Book One School book selection - The One and Only Ivan! The book, a parent letter, and a reading schedule went home with the oldest learner in the family today. This book is yours to keep; thank you to the PTO for purchasing over 300 books!
Starting next Tuesday, we will be following the reading schedule to read 15-20 pages each day at school. We would like families at home to re-read those same pages, discuss the book, and answer some of the home extension questions that are included in the reading schedule.
We also have a podcast (https://anchor.fm/freedom-obos) where you can listen to the reading if you'd like to mix it up a bit. This can be a great option for car rides or for younger learners not able to read the text independently. We have lots of fun activities planned at school and are excited for you and your family to read along at home!

HSD Community Education had such an amazing response for our first Yoga class, we've added another! Spots are LIMITED and will fill up quickly.

This week we've been giving clues at school about our upcoming One Book One School book selection! Starting next Tuesday, the whole school will be reading the same book together. Two years ago we all read The Tale of Despereaux, last year we read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and this Thursday, February 16th, we'll reveal our newest selection!
The book, a parent letter, and the reading schedule will be going home on Thursday to the oldest learner in the family. The book is yours to keep and read at home! A big thank you to our amazing PTO for purchasing books for everyone!
One Book One School will run February 21 - March 10. Each classroom will watch the movie on March 15th. We're excited for fun activities, a podcast, trivia, and much more!

Beginning February 6th, we will track attendance percentages by grade. Each week, the group with the highest attendance percentage will earn a reward. The grade or cohort with the highest overall attendance at the end of 5 weeks will earn a special reward (including a reward for the teachers!)
Help your student be a HERO at Freedom by getting to school every day on time, ready with an attitude to learn!
